Lichfield December Marketing Success

Lichfield Attracts Over A Million Visitors in December

Lichfield BID invested in a marketing campaign in December to highlight the virtues of Lichfield at Christmas and what a fabulous place it is to visit to shop, eat and drink and dip in to some wonderful Christmas markets and festivals.  The campaign included a Christmas promotional magazine, posters across the rail network and on the sides of local buses, on-line promotional activity and even the huge LED Screen on the M6.

Our call to action was to ask people to go to , which is the number one ranked site on Google for information about Lichfield, and our marketing paid off as we saw an increase of 100% in hits  year-on-year, with 16,000 visitors to the site in December 2018.

Not only did people visit the website, they also came to the city and we saw footfall of over 1 million people in Lichfield in December making it the busiest month in 2018, out-stripping all of our summer months when we usually record significant numbers for our festivals and events.

Paul Maddox, BID Chairman, said “I am thrilled that we have had such a successful December in Lichfield and the numbers of people visiting shows that we are doing something right in terms of promoting the city and delivering on our business plan. The business plan looks to increase visitor numbers, promote our city, ensure it is an eventful experience and a safe and attractive one so that our businesses can be as productive as possible. We will make sure we capitalise on our success in getting new visitors to the city and we are already starting to see January footfall numbers on the increase on the back of this sterling work.”
